Cynthia Dawn Ritchi’s visa extension application rejected

Ritchi has been asked by Ministry of Interior to leave Pakistan within 15 days

Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Interior has rejected visa extension application of Pakistan based American blogger Cynthia Dawn Ritchi on Wednesday and ordered her to leave the country within 15 days.

She has been living in Pakistan for around 10 years and she had levelled very serious allegations of sexual misconduct against former Interior Minister Rehman Malik, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and others.

The interior ministry in a two liner press statement stated that it has rejected Cynthia Dawn Ritchi’s visa extension application. “Cynthia Dawn ordered to leave Pakistan within 15 days,” the statement further added.

Meanwhile Ritchi in reaction to this development has vowed to file appeal against this order.

While giving her reaction to this order on social media she stated: “MoI -under pressure best known to them- has for the first time, in my over 10+ years in Pakistan, rejected my Visa application. No reason has been given.

We have a right to file an appeal & will do so. A higher forum must entertain my application and upon merits, grant visa.”

Generally Ritchie is described as a global citizen. She has written on a variety of topics including interfaith harmony, women and children’s rights, tourism, and she also advocates for strong US-Pakistan relations.

Ritchie has a social media following in the hundreds of thousands. A graduate of Louisiana State University, she has had additional training at the University of Houston School of Law, Pepperdine University, and George Washington University in the faculties of mass communications, criminal justice etc.
