Trees planted in memory of traffic warden Shahid Sarwar Shaheed

City Traffic Police Rawalpindi planted some plants in the vicinity of some of its pickets in the memory of traffic warden Shahid Sarwar who was martyred two years ago while he was on his duty.
DSP Traffic New Town Circle, Malik Azmat planted plants at Committee Chowk and Chandani Chowk, Rawalpindi at traffic police pickets to remember late Shahid Sarwar.
Malik Azmat said on this occasion that the aim of plantation of these plants at the pickets is to remember Shahid Sarwar Shahid and to keep it reminded the fellow policemen that he is still alive in the hearts.
He said these plants will grow to stand as living memorial for late traffic warden Sarwar. He said Sarwar scarified his life when he was on duty and set precedent for others to follow.
The DSP Traffic lauded the services of the late traffic warden and said that he embraced martyrdom for the sake of rule of law and he was fasting too when this incident occurred.
A traffic warden, Shahid Sarwar and a passerby were shot dead on June 13, 2018 when a man opened fire in a fit of rage after the traffic official prevented him from parking his car in a no-parking spot in Rawalpindi’s Committee Chowk area
The incident occurred at around 7pm in the evening, just 15 minutes before Iftar. Despite the Waris Khan police station being located just a few yards away, the police failed to arrive promptly at the scene.
The people present in the area rushed to surround the man who had opened fire and after seizing his weapon, proceeded to beat him up.
Locals shifted the critically injured men to the DHQ hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased traffic warden Shahid Sarwar was a resident of Kallar Syedan in Rawalpindi. He was known by his comrades to be a highly dutiful and well-mannered man and was fasting when the incident occurred.
