Former Mayor of Karachi Naimatullah Khan passes way

Karachi lost a fatherly figure and one of its best mayors ever Naimatullah Khan on Tuesday who passed away in Karachi after prolonged illness.
Former City Nazim Naimatullah Khan breathed his last in a private hospital in Karachi.
Khan was born in Ajmer Sharif in 1930 and got preliminary education at Shah Jahanpur. After inception of new state in 1947 he and his family migrated to Pakistan.
A graduate of the Punjab University’s journalism programme, Khan also had a law degree from University of Karachi.
He got elected as member of provincial assembly Sindh in 1985 from North Nazimabad and served in this position till 1988.
In 2001 to 2005 during the regime of General (Retired) Pervez Musharraf he served as City Nazim Karachi and earned a lot of fame and respect for his selfless services.
Naimatullah Khan was a senior leader of Jamat-Islami (JI) as well.
A JI spokesperson said the former city nazim’s funeral prayers would be offered tomorrow (Wednesday) after Zuhar. The funeral prayers would be offered at MA Jinnah Road.
The spokesperson added Khan would be buried after his son and daughter arrive from abroad.
Meanwhile Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has suspended all its official activities to mourn the sad demise of Khan and to pay him homage.
Moreover, Mayor Karachi, Wasim Akhtar in his condolence message prayed to Almighty Allah to bless the departed soul and give strength and courage to the family to bear this loss.
