Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan likely to join PPP

A stalwart and seasoned politician of Pakistan Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is likely to join Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after his prolonged inactiveness in the political arena.
Sources in various quarters including political and others believe that former leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) will make an announcement in this connection soon.
There have been rumors in some social media circles recently, mostly in WhatsApp groups, that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will soon be a part of PPP.
According to unconfirmed reports, developments are underway in this connection and the former Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan would make an announcement in this connection.
If it happens, then it would be a major breakthrough for the PPP which is desperately looking for its revival in Punjab and especially in the area of Potohar.
This is pertinent to mention here that former interior minister, Chaudhry Nisar had developed differences with the top leadership of PML-N during the general election of 2018.
He has been very critical to the leadership of PML-N, especially with regard to Maryam Nawaz who is the senior vice president of the party.
Then the party leadership had set a criteria of awarding tickets to the candidates for 2018 general elections. A candidate who had wanted the party ticket, was supposed to write an application to the party leadership to get a ticket for contesting elections.
Since Chaudhry Nisar was amongst the top brass of the party leadership and he was second to Mian Nawaz Sharif only, in terms of seniority, he perceived this as humiliating for him.
He didn’t apply for a party ticket and preferred to participate in the election as an independent candidate. He lost his seat of the National Assembly against Chaudhry Sarwar Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
However, he won as Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Punjab from his native constituency.
Although he had secured a seat as an MPA, he did not take oath as the provincial legislature for quite some time. He took oath as an MPA when there had been no other option under extraordinary circumstances.
Even his oath taking ceremony had made headlines in the mainstream media, especially on TV news channels.
Earlier, there were some rumors that he might join PTI as Chairman of PTI, Imran Khan was a personal friend of his. However, this could not happen due to various political reasons.
The leader of PTI, Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan share the same constituencies.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan as Interior Minister of Pakistan during the term of PML-N has set such milestones which were unmatchable.
He was an all-powerful interior minister who had a firm eye on happenings in all departments which fall under the Ministry of Interior. He was a vibrant, punctual and dedicated federal minister who always had the urge to go for the betterment of the country. Let’s see what happens about the gossip taking rounds on the social media pertaining to his possible joining of PPP in near future.
