Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) reiterates that doctors are working on the front line in the war against Coronavirus.

Their lives are at risk due to the shortage of Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs), so many doctors have fallen prey to the deadly virus because of non-availability of PPEs, stated a press release issued by PMA on Saturday.

In this regard we have written letter to the Prime Minister of Pakistan and to the Chief Letter to Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan_Mr Imran Khan_ 02-04-2020Ministers of all the provinces, requesting them to provide (PPEs) for the protection of doctors, nurses and paramedics, it further added.

“We strongly suggest having PCR Corona Test of all the doctors who are on duty without PPEs. So that the doctors could be diagnosed and kept into isolation urgently otherwise they would infect many others. The doctors who found to be negative with Coronavirus should be protected urgently with PPEs,” the press release said.

The doctors serving the corona patients are facing pressure from their families to quit their jobs. One can well imagine the horrible results if they are not protected and they quit. Protection of doctors is very serious issue at this stage.

Pakistan Medical Association is also trying to provide PPEs to the doctors who are serving the nation in this hard time, concluded the statement.
