Senator Malik to table bill to form body to control essential items’ prices

Senator Rehman A Malik who is also the chairman of the Senate panel on Interior wants formation of Pakistan Price and Control Authority to have check and balance on the prices of essential items in the country.
In statement issued to media on Tuesday he stated that legislation should be made to constitute this authority by giving it constitutional cover to control unannounced inflation of the prices of essential items and to stop the shopkeepers from charging their own rates.
He said soon he will table a bill in this connection in the Parliament.
According to him formation of this authority will make the manufacturers, suppliers and shopkeepers bound to keep the prices of commodities stable besides restricting them to charge the rates of their own. He said the trend of charging prices of one’s own choice has pushed the citizens to the wall and made their lives miserable.
