A split-second spectacle of a man peeing under the sun in Pakistan’s urban settings can not only spoil the soil but your day as well. Attempts to educate the public about the hazards of such a reckless practice have turned out to be, like quite metaphorically speaking, pissing in the wind.
Peeing against the walls and in other public places is becoming nuisance especially in Rawalpindi where people don’t spare parks and use them as toilets. Perhaps time has come to take this issue as an offence and to educate people to avoid this practice. And before anything, we need a systematic network of public lavatories for the citizens to empty their bladders.

People may be witnessed peeing against the walls all around Rawalpindi but Liaquat Bagh, which was supposed to be a recreational facility for the citizens is becoming ideal place for some persons to use it as public toilet.
It does not matter for them that some families are also sitting in Liaquat Bagh and this act of them is no acceptable by any mean.
Fewer voices are raised against public urination and that’s the reason it goes unchecked. On badly needs to tell these persons that public urination is cause of real concern. It is bad habit which needs to be addressed. Perhaps a campaign is required in the city to educate these persons to make them realize that they are committing sort of offence by urinating in public places.
Murree Road, Rawalpindi unlike other places is rich with public toilets. Thanks to Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus, after each one kilometre distance there are public toilets alongside the road at each of its station. There are separate public toilets for ladies and gents on these bus stations.
There are also public toilets at metro’s station of Liaquat Bagh where a janitor and a janitress is deputed like other metro’s stations to clean the toilets and keep them in order. This workforce of metro bus deputed on the toilets are doing hard job because fewer citizens would leave the toilets clean. Most persons don’t know it or they don’t want to flush the toilets after using them. They want next person standing in the queue to do this job or let janitors do it for them.
Anyway those persons who like to urinate publically don’t like to take a few step and use public toilets of metro bus station of Liaquat Bagh.
They would satisfy their call of nature openly against walls of park in presence of a lot other persons.
Public urination in Liaquat Bagh causes a lot stink especially during warm season. Most of families or persons avoid visiting Liaquat Bagh due to this unwanted activity.
This practice is done in broad day light in the presence of many visitors besides the presence of the staff of the park. A few cameras have also been installed over here to monitor activities of the visitors but some social animals got no respect for these cameras. They would relieve them openly as though it is common practice and bear no consequences of whatsoever.
According to a staff member of Parks and Horticulture Department who is deputed at Liaquat Bagh some persons believe it is place to urinate. “You can’t educate them as they have no sense for it. If you ask them to stop doing it then they would fall in quarrel with you. We got no idea how to stop them,” he stated.
Liaquat Bagh is not only the public place which is used for public urination. One may find countless other places alongside Murree Road where walls along the footpaths are used for this purpose. There is need initiate public campaign in this context to make general aware that public urination is not acceptable in a civilized society, especially where public toilets are available. There are many walls around the city with this graffiti, look dog is urinating here,’ but as dogs don’t read so graffiti goes into waste.
