Mayor Karachi opens KMC Swimming Pool for General Public

Swimming pool facility in Karachi Metropolitan Sports Complex at Kashmir Road has been opened for general public on Monday.

Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said the swimming pool facility in the KMC Sports Complex has now been made available to public for current season.

Citizens could now avail this facility during summer season. This being an old facility provided by KMC and now being restored for all citizens, stated a press release by Media Department of the KMC.

The mayor said this after opening the swimming pool for general public on Monday. Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman was also present on this occasion

Mayor Karachi also inspected the facilities provided at the pool and said this being only public sector facility being made available to public with all required facilities.

He said we want to provide such facilities in all districts of Karachi but at present it was not possible due to shortage of resources. However the Landhi Korangi Sports Complex would also be available for public soon.

Mayor Karachi also announced allocation of appropriate sum in the next budget for this swimming pool so this could be maintained properly. He also inspected the hockey ground being developed in the complex where astro turf will be laid soon. He also directed concerned officers to made planning for utilization of China Ground also for public. He said all these facilities should be properly maintained and taken care of.

 Imposition of emergency in KMC: Meanwhile according to another press release Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has imposed emergency in KMC to deal with any situation ahead of forecast of heavy rains and dust storm in the city.  He has directed the municipal services, fire brigade, health and medical, parks and engineering department to keep alert and make all arrangements ready. He also directed the parks department to remove all fallen trees from main roads.

Mayor Karachi also appealed to citizens to take all precautionary measures during present weather and avoid going out unnecessarily or standing under the hoardings or beneath the trees.

KMC setup desk for prompt redressal of complaints: Metropolitan Commissioner of KMC Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman said a desk has been setup in the IT Department of KMC for transfer of citizen’s complaints regarding KMC to concerned department and to ensure immediate action on all such complaints.

He has directed all departmental heads of KMC to assign special priority to resolve the public grievances without delay and keep the concerned quarter of IT department fully informed /updated on daily basis.

He said large number of citizens of Karachi were using Pakistan’s citizens’ portal online and lodging their complaints on it and it is the responsibility of relevant department of KMC to ensure quick redressal of grievances of citizens of this city within stipulated time, stated another press release of the Media Department of KMC.
