KMC decides to establish anti-encroachment & charged parking force comprising of wardens

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to establish anti-encroachment and charged parking force comprising of city wardens.
A Total of 100 city wardens would be performing their duties at encroachment force while as many would be deployed for charged parking.
This was decided in a meeting presided over by Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani here, stated a press release issued by Media Department of KMC on Thursday.
This is pertinent to mention here that the metropolitan city is facing severe issues almost everywhere due to encroachment related matters. By and large the footpaths have been encroached of major trading centres and in many cases entire roads and streets have been illegally occupied by encroachers where they are selling merchandise openly and without facing any restriction.
Meanwhile illegal parking is another menace which needs to be handled with iron hands. This phenomenon is creating traffic congestion and mess on major thoroughfares and trade centres.
In the meantime the administrator Karachi Shallwani said that encroachment had destroyed the look of Karachi, adding that city wardens’ inclusion in encroachment force would boost performance of anti-encroachment department.
He said that action against encroachment would continue across the board. He added that city wardens would also be assisting in charged parking to run the affairs in systematic manner.
Shallwani said that traffic gets jammed due to ill parking. Hailing city wardens, he said that city wardens are front liners of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. He added that they would also be provided uniforms.
“City wardens department would be upgraded and they will be utilized for betterment in the city,” he said.
