Installation of Same-sized Billboards Decided for Karachi

Administrator and Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Friday said that it was decided to install same-sized bill boards across the city and too that at buildings instead of footpaths so that the beauty of Karachi doesn’t get destroyed, stated a press release issued on Friday.

“The business community have very important role in the country’s development and we want their advice for the works as well. Roundabouts of the city would be allotted after auction,” the administrator passed these remarks while meeting a delegation of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) led by Zubair Chaya here. KATI President Saleem uz Zaman, former President Shaikh Umar Rehan and Danish were also present on the occasion.

The Administrator said that they are taking measures to uplift road infrastructure of industrial areas. We would have no issue if present allotees want to get back roundabouts after auction.

Shallwani said that roundabouts would be auctioned for a period of one year. He said that industrialists and businessmen are very respectable for us as they provide jobs to the people and play key role in the country’s economy. Their issues would be resolved on priority basis, he added.

The delegation requested Shallwani to name Korangi 3000 Road after former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry SM Muneer for his services.

The administrator accepted their request and said that services tendered by all such people should be acknowledged. Shallwani said that size of all signboards would be made the same as they would be installed at buildings like developed countries.

He said that huge sized signboards at footpaths are violating the rights of pedestrians as well destroyed the footpaths. The Administrator said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is taking all-out measures to uplift infrastructure and make betterment in the city despite having limited resources.

We are also removing encroachments from different parts of the city to save beauty of Karachi.

He hoped that industrialists and business community would support the local administration for Karachi’s development, concluded the statement.
