Streetlights made functional around National Stadium Karachi

On directives of Administrator and Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation made all streetlights around National Stadium Karachi functional and replaced dysfunctional lights, stated a press release issued on Saturday.

The administrator asked concerned officials to take special measures during play off matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The dilapidated roads should be constructed and footpaths be painted, he directed.

Beautification and cleanliness works are underway around the stadium so that it would have good impact on the foreign players.

“It is the first major tournament after break out of COVID-19 and holding of PSL matches in Karachi is welcoming. Karachiites love cricket,” he added.

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Director General Works Shabeeh ul Hassan said that they were in contact with Pakistan Cricket Board and providing all facilities for the tournament.

The PSL 2020 is the fifth season of Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty 20 which was established by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015.

The fifth season started on February 20 this year. It was for the first time that entire matches of PSL were played in Pakistan.

However, the playoff state of the tournament was postponed due to outbreak of the pandemic, Covid 19.

Later on, on July 2, 2020, the PCB announced that it was planning to complete the season in November 2020. On 2 September 2020, the PCB confirmed the fixtures for the remaining matches.
