Ruling against abortion drug mifepristone: A federal judge in Texas has ruled against a popular abortion medication mifepristone which is used by a large number of Americans.
On April 7th Matthew Kacsmaryk, a federal judge of Taxis has ruled against an abortion medication named as mifepristone.
Mifepristone is a medication is one of two most commonly used drugs which is used for abortion in the first 10 weeks of gestation. This medication also has 23 years old approval by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).
According to Wikipedia Mifepristone which is also known as RU-486, is a medication used in combination with misoprostol to bring about a medical abortion during pregnancy and manage early miscarriage. This combination is claimed to be 97% effective during the first 63 days of pregnancy.
Earlier, nine month ago, the America’s Supreme Court had also rescinded the constitutional right to abortion by returning this matter to the elected representatives of people.
The ruling of Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk certainly would have massive impact on the residents of states of US which are considered abortion friendly states. The citizens of these states could face more issues in ending pregnancies, which earlier they didn’t have.
However, the ruling of the judge of Taxis would not take effect immediately as he has given the federal government to lodge an appeal against it in seven days.
The department of Justice and Danco Laboratories, which manufacture mifepristone requested the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to keep the medication in question available.
The United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit is a federal court with appellate jurisdiction over the district courts in the federal judicial districts including Eastern District of Louisiana, Middle District of Louisiana, Western District of Louisiana, Northern District of Mississippi, Southern District of Mississippi, Eastern District of Texas, Northern District of Texas, Southern District of Texas and the Western District of Texas.

History of Abortion
The history of medical abortion dates back to ancient times when women used herbs, plants, and other natural substances to induce abortions. The ancient Greeks and Romans used herbs like silphium, pennyroyal, and birthwort, which were believed to have abortifacient properties.
In the 19th century, medical professionals began to use various methods to induce abortion, including the use of ergot, a fungus that grows on rye and other grains, and the use of toxic substances such as arsenic and mercury.
In the early 20th century, researchers discovered that certain hormones, such as progesterone, could be used to prevent pregnancy. In the 1960s, the first medical abortion drugs were developed, including mifepristone (RU-486) and misoprostol.
Mifepristone, also known as the “abortion pill,” is a medication that blocks the action of progesterone, which is necessary for the growth and development of the fetus. Misoprostol is a medication that causes the uterus to contract, expelling the contents of the uterus.
Today, medical abortion is a safe and effective option for terminating an unwanted pregnancy, and it is widely available in many countries. The use of medical abortion has increased significantly in recent years, and it is now one of the most common methods of abortion worldwide.
