Five Pakistanis arrested for working in Israel: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five Pakistanis on the charges of working in Israel as there are no diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Israel.
According to the available information these five suspects entered Israel from Jordan Airport on Schengen visas.
Schengen refers to the European Union (EU) passport-free zone that covers most European countries. It’s the largest free travel area in the world, maintains a website.
A Schengen visa is a short-stay visa that allows a person to travel to any member of the Schengen Area, per stay up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes, it further added.
Reportedly all the accused persons entered Israel through an Israeli agent. The accused worked in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv for four to seven years
The accused used to work over there as helpers and car washes in Tel Aviv. The accused used to return to Karachi from Jordan Airport via Dubai.
The accused used to transfer money to Pakistan through Western Union.
The suspects had adopted a modus operandi to enter Israel from Jordan Airport through Turkey, Kenya, and Sri Lanka.
The accused used to come to Karachi from Jordan Airport via Dubai to return home.
This is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan and Israel do not have formal diplomatic relations and have historically maintained a tense relationship.
Pakistan has not recognized the state of Israel since its creation in 1948. The primary reason for this is Pakistan’s strong support for the Palestinian cause and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
It is clearly mention on the Pakistani passports that the holder of it can travel to any country except Israel.
So Pakistanis can’t go to Israel for any purpose and as these suspects were not allowed to do so, they were arrested.
Meanwhile, the large number of Pakistanis continues to go abroad legally and illegally to avail better opportunities of livelihood.
Those who are highly qualified and professionals can secure visas of developed countries and they try their luck over there.
However, many youths who can’t go abroad legally, opt to travel to developed countries, mostly EU countries, through illegal means.
They pay heavy charges to human smugglers/agents who promise them to transport them to Greece or other developed countries via illegal and life-threatening means.
Recently many Pakistanis lost their lives when a boat sank off Greece recently. This boat was carrying migrants and it was overcrowded which finally sank off in the sea.
The officials claim that the victims paid the smugglers between $5,000 and $8,000 for the voyage to Greece.
