Expediting Uplift Work at Karachi Zoo Ordered

Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Friday directed concerned officials to expedite uplift works at Karachi Zoo under Annual Development Program so that the animals could be given more natural environment and people be provided better facilities.
According to a press release issued by Media Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Friday while visiting Karachi Zoo, Shallwani directed that the animals’ cages should also be renovated. He also visited Mughal Garden and said that it is a historical place and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s events should be held here as it would increase importance of the place.
“Zoo is the most interesting place for children who come here with their parents and get knowledge about animals. The zoos are the source of increasing awareness about wildlife” he added and said that it was necessary to provide animals natural environment as more as possible.
The administrator said that measures should be taken for recognition of Karachi Zoo at international level. He said that more animals would be brought to Karachi Zoo.
On the occasions, Director Karachi Zoo Khalid Hashmi informed Shallwani that a large number of people visit Karachi Zoo and Wednesday is fixed for women and children only. He said that all possible measures were adopted to ensure provision of natural environment to the animals and their cages are designed in a manner that the visitors could see the animals and birds without any fear and danger.
Hashmi said that plates inscribed with names and other information of each animal and bird have been installed at the cages so that the people could aware. He said that Natural History Museum is another place to watch at the zoo where a large number of citizens especially students come.
The director also apprised Shallwani about development works being carried out in the zoo.
The administrator was of the view that the zoo was situated on a very large land and it is also a botanical garden therefore plantation should also be done here. He said that our aim is to provide Karchiites good places for entertainment and all possible measures would be taken in this regard.
“Zoological gardens are made beautiful and animals are given special care across the world. We should follow these as well,” he stated, concluded the press release.
