A resident of Islamabad belonging to Christian Community is appealing to all authorities concerned to assist him to get back his wife who has been allegedly converted to Islam forcefully.
His wife Saima Iqbal is the mother of three adolescent kids and she was reportedly kidnapped and afterwards forcibly converted to Islam by man named as Khalid Satti.
According to a video statement of Naveed Iqbal who is resident of Iqbal Town, Islamabad and living in the locality for the past 20 years, Khalid kidnapped his wife on gunpoint on February 25. He says very next day he approached police station concerned to register an FIR into this matter but he was denied his right of lodging an FIR.
Naveed’s FIR lodged when he threatened to commit suicide: “The police have been making lame excuses for not registering the FIR on my repeated requests and they got it register only on March 1st when I visited the police station along with my entire family and threatened it to commit suicide in front of the police station if an FIR into this effect is not registered,” he narrates sad affairs of his affairs concerning his wife.
After lodging of the FIR which was registered only when he threatened to commit suicide the police recovered his wife from the captivity of Khalid. According to Naveed police instead to pay any attention what he believes in about this affair is listening what the accused is saying.
He says the police believe in the argument of the accused that Khalid converted Saima Iqbal into Islam and married her. She after her recovery was later shifted to a shelter house.
“The documents of Nikah are fake and this was done to avoid the penalty of kidnapping of my wife. I have also challenged these documents in the court. My wife was forcefully converted to other religion to avoid the penalty of kidnapping. She got torture marks on her face and other parts of body. I and my wife are being threatened not to pursue the case otherwise we are warned to get ready for dire consequences,” he laments.
According to him due to fear of safety of his and his children lives he is constantly changing his whereabouts.
“No one is listening to me and mother of three children has been taken away from his family. Is it the new Pakistan in which religious minorities got no right? Let media pay attention towards my plight and let Saima record her statement without any pressure,” he demands.
State Interior Minister on Interior takes notice of Iqbal’s request: According to some media report State Minister on Interior, Shehryar Afridi took notice of the issue and ordered Islamabad Police to take action immediately in this matter and present the report to him.
He talked to IG Islamabad Police and asked him to recover the affected woman and investigate the case to get to the reality of the case.
