Mayor Karachi inaugurates puppet festival

Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has inaugurated the 29th international puppet festival at Bagh ibn e Qasim in Karachi on Friday, stated a press release issued by Media Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

President of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Mohammed Ahmed Shah, chief executive Rafi Peer Theater Saadan Peerzada, Usman Peerzada were also present on this occasion besides a good number of citizens.

The organizers entertained the audience especially children with various puppet shows in the inaugural ceremony. The festival will continue till 11pm Sunday.

Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar while talking to media called this a good and healthy activity for children. The festival was brought to the city after a gap of many years to provide good recreation for citizens of Karachi.

Replying a query he said the Supreme Court directive was fully implemented by KMC, the debris being removed from the Bagh ibn e Qasim and the park is used as a recreation place for children, concluded the press statement.
