In a tragic wall collapse incident, some 17 people were killed in India that shows a least interest of rulers about the safety and care of poor people.

A 60-ft-wall collapsed on Saturday near Talab masjid in Pune’s Kondhwa area. The wall collapsed on shanties following incessant rains in Pune, police said on Saturday. At least 15 people died in the incident. Rescue operations are underway.

At least 15 people died on Saturday after a 60-ft-wall wall of a residential complex collapsed near talab masjid in Pune’s Kondhwa area. The wall collapsed on shanties following incessant rains in Pune, police said on Saturday.

Police had earlier said that 17 people were killed in the incident. The shanties were built for the labourers working at a construction site nearby, they said.

The compound wall collapsed around 1.45 am Friday night in the Kondhwa area, an official said.

Two to three people are still believed to be trapped and rescue operations are underway. The number of people who have been injured in the incident is yet to be confirmed.

The initial reports say the deceased included nine men, a woman and four children.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered an in-depth inquiry into the incident of wall collapse in Pune.

“Extremely saddened to know about loss of lives in the Kondhwa, Pune wall collapse incident. My deepest condolences to the families and praying for speedy recovery of the injured. Directed Pune Collector to conduct an in-depth enquiry,” Fadnavis said on Twitter.

Is that not regrettable that an in-depth inquiry rarely repairs the loss of lives and it is announced as an eyewash matter. The question of protecting lives and caring of poor people revolves around the essential policies and worries about the people and not to look into the priorities above than the ordinary people.

The NDRF team has also reached the accident spot for rescue operations.
