‘Right to life’ is in danger in Karachi

A report by Pak Chronicle

As many as one hundred people have been killed brutally by the dacoits and robbers in a very short span of one year in Karachi.

The local administration, however seems unmoved as these are the killings of ordinary citizens.

A senior journalist Kamran Mughal says since the incidents of murder of ordinary people had taken place in different dates and days, they remained unnoticed. However, it was true that precious lives of 100 citizens were taken by outlaws for no reasons.

During this year the reports were published in different newspapers about the killings of citizens either in the incidents of dacoities or robberies, took place in different areas of the city in different days and months.

The irony was that the provincial government had failed to take serious note of such incidents. It also failed to issue an order to take any strict legal actions or operations against the killers of the law-abiding citizens.

In a similar incident a young man (24-year-old) namely Faisal was killed by the robbers in the area of Surjani Town, the other day.

A tragic aspect of the incident was that prior to kill Faisal, the robbers had taken all amount (he had) from him and then brutally killed him instead of taking pity.

Another noticeable thing is that in most of the cases the dacoits and robbers, preferred to kill poor individuals after getting their sums and other valuables.

In other words they deprived the victims from their valuables first and then killed them for none.

The obligation of the Constitution is to protect the lives of the citizens but it seems that the rulers attach less importance to this obligatorily clause of the constitution.

The Constitution of the country guarantees all fundamental rights especially the protection of every citizen.

It clearly says: “No individual shall be deprived of life or liberty except in accordance with the law.”

The government of the Sindh province and law enforcing agencies must take notice of such incidents of killings of innocent citizens at the hands of the so-called dacoits and robbers, and take appropriate measure to protect the citizen.
