Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar named caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan

The senator of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Anwar-ul- Haq Kakar has been chosen as the caretaker Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan on Saturday.
He will continue to serve as the caretaker PM till the new government is elected after holding general election in the country.
The Prime Minister’s Office, issued a press release in this connection in which it was stated that the much-anticipated announcement came after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and outgoing Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Raja Riaz developed a consensus over Kakar’s name for the slot of caretaker premiership in a meeting in Islamabad on Saturday.
Afterwards, they sent an advice regarding Kakar’s appointment as the caretaker prime minister to President Arif Alvi, who gave his assent over his name.
President Dr Arif Alvi signed the summary to approve the appointment of Mr Anwar-ul-Haq as the caretaker Prime Minister under Article 224(1A) of the Constitution, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad, on 12-08-2023.
Kakar was elected as senator as an independent candidate on a general seat from Balochistan in 2018. He is stated to be co-founder of a political party, BAP. In a surprising move he was nominated as the caretaker PM by Raja Riaz and Shehbaz Sharif.
Earlier there has been much speculations as who would be the caretaker PM of Pakistan but his name was not mentioned in these speculations.
