Encroachment to be razed around Mehmoodabad Nullah: Administrator Karachi

Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Friday said that all illegal establishments would be removed around Mehmoodabad Nullah and it was essential to raze encroachments for betterment of the city, stated a press release issued by Media Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Friday.
While visiting Mehmoodabad nullah, the Administrator said injustice would not be done with anyone during the removal operation. Assistant Commissioner Sajida Qazi and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
Shallwani saw different sides of the nullah and passed directives for removal of encroachments around it. He said that in larger interest of Karachi, comprehensive mechanism is being devised for cleanliness of storm water drains and restoring them in to their original positions for smooth drainage of water.
“The localities around the drains also have threats in case of over flowing. The encroachers should mend their way as no one would be allowed to trouble the people, “he added. The administrator said that all drains including Mehmoodabad nullah are main way of storm water drainage and it is necessary to remove all hurdles from them.
The administrator also appealed to the people of adjacent areas to cooperate with the KMC and not to throw garbage in the drains. He asked the people to dump garbage on designated place from where it could be lifted.
Shallwani said the people’s cooperation in keeping the city clean is very important, adding that our first aim should be to bring comfort for others. He directed concerned officials to ensure removal of all sort of illegal establishments. The administrator said that he would be supervising the removal operation himself and all works would be done with assistance of district administration.
